Who
We Are

Sixth House Theatre is a brand new theatre company that was created as part of
Lowry Theatre’s Hothouse Programme.

Formed of six multidisciplinary artists, we utilise our cross-cultural experiences,
a total of five languages and our various specialist disciplines – acting, puppetry, dance, music & writing – to develop robust accessible productions that push the boundaries of work today and create prescient, impactful theatre for tomorrow.

OUR MISSION

We have six artistic mission statements

INNOVATE: Integrating new technologies into our work to create new worlds on stage & engage audiences through accessible, inclusive live performance.

CAPTIVATE: We believe theatre can be a powerful weapon to challenge, inspire & provoke change whilst also being an antidote to heal & connect. We want to provide refuge & escapism.

IMMEDIATE: Our work is current - a hotbed for industrial, political, & digital change - constantly building, shape shifting & creating new forms.

ILLUMINATE: Creating universal stories through a contemporary future-facing lens. With a focus on reinvention and revolution.

VARIATE: Find similarities in our differences, demonstrate that diversity is strength, & empower our audience. Our shows reflect us, through our diverse skills, backgrounds & experiences.

CELEBRATE: Create a catalyst for conversation by celebrating connectivity. We want our audiences to feel that theatre is a second home; a safe, vibrant, inspiring space.

As individual artists we have worked extensively across the UK and internationally in our respective fields. We have a combined 95 years of experience creating work in the arts, and we now bring our diverse skills and expertise to Sixth House.

β€œA house is both shelter and story, a container for love, growth, and the quiet unfolding of everyday existence - I want our audiences to feel like they are coming home for a short stay when they see our shows and then we send them back out into the world. Changed.’’
